Once I had a conversation with one of my friends who complained of toothache. He was young but suffering with tooth problems. He was describing what was the cause for it. He was fond of sweets and never lets his day go without a sweet. He also mentioned that he was warned by his mother but still his desire persisted. Tooth problem are quite painful. I was thinking how ignorant we are if we do not take precautions at least after being alerted by an expert.
One can clearly notice that we are born ignorant and we lead the life as life drags us. Sometimes person becomes so enamored by sense gratification (temporary pleasure) that he forgets to question – Where does he come from? Where was he before birth?
Where does he go after death? What is the real purpose of life?
There is no question of self-realization.
The study of the scripture reveals the answers for these questions and guides the person in proper path but today one common sentence that we hear is “I am Busy”, in my sense gratification. So the spiritual master like Srila Prabhupada (Founder-Acharya of International Society for Krishna Consciousness) out of his mercy reveals the truth to us but still we see there is negligence. How unfortunate it is..
Krishna say in Bhagavad Gita –
bahunam janmanam ante
jnanavan mam prapadyate
vasudevah sarvam iti
sa mahatma su-durlabhah
After many births and deaths, he who is actually in knowledge surrenders unto Me, knowing Me to be the cause of all causes and all that is. Such a great soul is very rare.
